LSDF (Large Scale Data Facility) Online Storage

The Large Scale Data Facility (LSDF) is an Online Storage service operated by the Scientific Computing Center (SCC) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). It offers researchers at KIT, at state-funded universities in Baden-Württemberg, and in the Helmholtz Association — as well as their collaborators — access to a large-scale disk storage system. It is intended in particular for data-intensive scientific disciplines.

Using LSDF

Users of the LSDF Online Storage can access the storage on HoreKa 2. The following environment variables include path names of directories on this file system:

  • $LSDF
  • $LSDFPROJECTS
  • $LSDFHOME

The LSDF Online Storage is mounted on login nodes at all times. In order to use it on compute nodes you have to request that the file system is mounted by the batch system before the job starts. This is done with the batch option --constraint=LSDF.
