$HOME

$HOME is your personal home directory on the globally visible IBM Storage Scale (GPFS) home file system, automatically created for every user and intended for permanently required data such as software installations and important results. The environment variable $HOME is set automatically and points to this directory.

$HOME is a personal directory — it is not shared with other members of your project group. For shared project storage, see $PROJECT.

Member of multiple compute time projects

On the previous HoreKa system, your home directory was located inside a project directory. On HoreKa 2, $HOME is tied directly to your user account, independent of any project. This means your home directory persists across projects and is always the same, regardless of which project you are currently working in.

There are quota limits per user for capacity and number of inodes (number of files and directories). In order to check the current usage and limits see general information on quotas.
